It’s so Delicious!

August 14th, 2008

Hello All,
This one will be short…I promise. For awhile now I have been collecting amazing resources from the web. These resources relate to eLearning, online tools, Web 2.0, hybrids, etc. So, what have I done with them? I’ve tagged them all on Delicious. I’ve done what on where? Let me explain.

Tagged is a term used for categorizing your resources. Think keyword. So, when I save a website, I ‘tag’ it with a word that makes sense to me. I know, the librarians are groaning.

And I’ve placed it on what? Delicious! Delicious is a social bookmarking website…basically a place online where you can store all your bookmarks or favorites.

So, check out my delicious site at http://delicious.com/frizelle and explore away!

Video in Bb – for real?

July 15th, 2008

Yes, for real. Here’s the deal. Many of you have heard of Camtasia, and have wanted to try it. For one reason or another, it’s never happened. Here’s your chance. TechSmith, of Camtasia fame, have created the Jing Project. Jing is a FREE program that is basically a scaled back version of Camtasia AND they store and stream the videos for you! These files can then be seamlessly embedded in a blog, wiki and Blackboard.

AND say it with me: MAC compatible!

I’ve just started playing around with it – and in under 10 minutes made a short video demonstrating how to log into Bb. It was TOO easy. How do you get Jing? Here’s how…

  1. Logon to http://www.jingproject.com/
  2. Download the small file
  3. Start playing and make a video
  4. For a more formal quick start guide click the link below. It’s my first attempt at the guide – so if you find something not quite right, please let me know!

Blackboard and EZproxy

July 11th, 2008

Do you like to include online library materials in your Blackboard classroom?  Do you also really dislike having to prompt students to login to the library site to access the materials?  Good news!  The library and eLearning have teamed up to install a program in Bb that allows for the Bb login to be passed along to the library – so students no longer have to re-login to the library when they want to access an article via Blackboard!

The next time you see Linda Zuvich or Christie Nelson give them a BIG THANK YOU!  They were the master minds behind this.
